PLOT
The Grass doesn’t grow is a first experiment of broadcasting directly online across 13 episodes, each 15 minutes long. It gained such a wide audience that MTV decided to make an edited version made up of 6 episodes, each 25 minutes long. It won the USSI award (2012 Italian Sport Press Union) and was chosen for the 2013 Rome Web Fest. The series tells the story of Danilo, who supports a soccer team involved in the 2011 football betting scandal that gets relegated to Serie B after a season of playing to lose. Danilo has a bit of Forrest Gump and a bit of Don Quixote about him. He goes looking for the players in his team, those fake heroes he’d believed in who have now moved to other towns after the relegation season. Disillusioned, betrayed, and mad at himself for not realizing what was happening, Danilo travels for more than 12,000 km around Italy with the goal of getting the players in his team to explain to him why they sold the games out. Those who cheated will have to tell him why to his face.
