PLOT
In an occupied railway tollhouse, the eccentric and talented musician Cesare Dell’Anna is the bandleader of a new musical wave, which blends stories and rhythms that came to Apulia through emigration.
Born in a small town in Salento, Cesare shows precocious talent, starting to play the trumpet in the town’s band at the age of seven. With genius and stubbornness, he transformed a traditional family job into the passion of his life, pushing his music beyond any stylistic confinement. His trumpet becomes the leading point of a fast-paced artistic journey that starts from the ‘Albania Hotel’ home-workshop and explodes into extraordinary performances, echoing popular music and the art of circus.
The triumph (or failure) of Cesare dell’Anna’s projects and dreams carries the tension of the story forward. But the note that drags him along is that of his character, his incurable restlessness that can never be satisfied by any happy finish. Rejecting discographic labels and common conventions, Cesare continues to fight against all forms of conformism, remaining faithful to his own idea of freedom.
