PLOT
Despite being prior to the opening of the company, The First Task was also the first test of a team project for the production staff that would then become Dinamo Film and who handled the whole organization of this movie. From this point of view, the title couldn’t have been more appropriate for us.
In Puglia in the Fifties, young Nena is caught between the complicated relationship with her mother and her love for middle-class Francesco, when suddenly she gets a letter from the Education Authority assigning her a post in a tiny elementary school in the Salento hinterland. The mistrust and hostility of the place present her with difficult moments of loneliness but she finds solace in the arms of an unsophisticated young man from the area after Francesco tells her that he’s in love with another woman. Nena will decide to spend the rest of her life in that town and in that rundown school.
