My Place is Here: from April 25 at the cinema

“My Place is Here” arrives in Italian cinemas on April 25th: a film written and co-directed by Cristiano Bortone and Daniela Porto, telling a story of friendship and emancipation set in rural Calabria in the 1940s.

Shooting took place last year between Calabria and Puglia, in evocative locations that tell the story of postwar Italy. The film was produced by Orisa Produzioni in co-production with Goldkind Filmproduktion, with the support of Calabria Film Commission Foundation, Apulia Film Commission and Lazio Region, Lazio Cinema International Fund, POR-FESR 2014-2020.  Dinamo Film handled production services in Apulia.

At Bifest 2024, “My Place is Here” was awarded the Giuliano Montaldo Prize for Best Director, “for having told with strength, simplicity and respect an exemplary story of emancipation and the fight against prejudice in a seemingly distant place and time.” Lead actress Ludovica Martino won the Mariangela Melato Award for Best Actress “for illuminating the entire film and interpreting with credibility and emotion the figure of a woman who against all odds manages to take charge of her life.”
