The Betrayers by David Bezmozgis: filming wraps

Filming wraps on the international feature produced by Vortex Media and Fore Film, with Dinamo Film as production service.

Filming is about to conclude in Puglia on the film The Betrayers, directed by Canadian writer and director David Bezmozgis, an international production by the Canadian company Vortex Media and the Ukrainian company Fore Film, with production services by Dinamo Film. The film is made with the support of the Apulia Film Fund of the Apulia Film Commission and the Region of Puglia, financed through resources from the POR Puglia FESR-FSE 2014/2020 programme.

Filming, which ended today, involved numerous urban and coastal locations across Puglia which, for this film, serve as the setting for a story that takes place in Crimea and Jerusalem. The film was shot in various locations in the region, including Bari, Bitetto, Monopoli, Mola di Bari, and Modugno, transformed into corners of Eastern Europe.

The Betrayers is a dramatic film set in the post-Soviet context, centered on the meeting between a former Soviet dissident and his betrayer, offering deep reflections on the themes of justice, memory, and forgiveness.

The project relies on the collaboration of local administrations and actively involves Apulian workers and professionals, who represent 90% of the crew currently working on the film.

Once again Dinamo Film, with executive producer Ivan D’Ambrosio, production manager Enrico Magliocca, and with the contribution of art director Mattia Lorusso and his set design team, is working on a film that succeeds in making Puglia a credible setting for locations with architecture and landscapes very different from those of our Region.

A strength of the entire Apulian sector, whose professional expertise is now so proven and solid as to make Puglia attractive even for productions that are not interested in promoting our territory — according to a logic long outdated — but in working with professionals capable of fulfilling the film industry’s primary need: verisimilitude.

Dinamo Film has also involved students from the DAMS program – Disciplines of Audiovisual, Music and Performing Arts – in collaboration with the University of Bari Aldo Moro, organizing a set visit to offer a real international experience to young people interested in pursuing a professional path in film production, without having to go elsewhere, but remaining in Puglia.
