National and world premiere for In perpetuo by Federico Barassi

A national and world premiere for Federico Barassi’s In Perpetuo, the documentary produced by Dinamo Film with Rai Cinema, which examines the lives of the last knowers of ancient fishing technique: the trabucco.

Selected by the Festival dei Popoli for the Italian Competition category, In Perpetuo will have its national premiere at the Astra cinema in Florence on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. The world premiere will be held on Oct. 30 at 3:30 p.m. in Kyev, Ukraine during the 53rdInternational Film Festival Molodist, selected in the International Documentary Competition, in a very complex geopolitical context where the power of art and the function of cinema as an imaginative medium are resisting, with the intention of bringing moments of serenity and escapism.

The documentary, shot entirely on the Gargano coastline between Peschici and Vieste, the trabucchi become the very microcosm where everything takes place and where the rhythm of the days is constantly set by the relationship between man and a sea as generous as it is impetuous and destructive. The four characters, with their gaze pointed toward the horizon of the sea, reflect on the uncertain survival of these ancient machines.
